Thinking out and loud, going through my blue mazes of life.

I was on bus heading my C++ course. And since it’s a long way to go, I mostly listen to radio. When suddenly today I heard Richard (my favorite announcer) is sitting in for the program “AM on FM”. That made me happy hearing him at that early hour of the day who I loved ever since I got to firstly listen to him.
I don’t know much about him more than he is a British citizen who preferred working in Cairo for over 10 years now. He’s not handsome nor charming, yet his voice and way of tackling issues is. And above all his magical taste of music. He can talk non-stop about oriental, foreign, traditional or global musical pieces. And each time I listen to a new pick by of his choice I feel charmed more and more.
So I thought of giving a thank you call since he was playing “I will always love you” by Dolly Parton (a hit I adore myself). I dialed the number and he answered HURRAY. But things went on the weird direction!
As I told you I was in the bus and so I’d to speak in English on my mobile which looked a bit odd! And since he couldn’t hear me well, I had to raise up my voice, which left people sitting beside me to gaze, who is that weirdo sitting beside us!! especially when I cheered with “Hay Richy this is BlueBerry * ”
He wished me a safe journey after we exchanged some private words together ;) . I haven’t called him in ages. So he promised to play another song by Dolly especially for me.
By the time we were crossing “Kasr el Nile” bridge, he was playing me that song “You left me just when I needed you the most” while I was staring at the Nile. You don’t know how I love the Nile’s scene from that particular bridge. And tell you, if that song is to prove anything, it won’t be but to show Richard’s fine taste.
I loved it as much as I love radio Cairo, and my story going on with it.
* that’s how my friends announcers and listeners know me in radio, as BlueBerry or BlueLue ;)
PS: I am still on my promise with the “City Cabs” just give me more time to go.

Blue, I am so confused!
How do the people in radio know you as Bluelue?
Have you talked to Richard before, and do you know him?
Kobry 2asr el nile ?? is the crs in cairo uni ??
anyway, what is it with you n' the radio ?? u're by far the most frequent listner i've met till now ??
u applied for oc ?? (ur name was written on a board)...
a, i almost forgot one thing...
since i've observed how much u adore sla7 gaheen ( i'd have to be blind not to notice that !!), anyway, though we've the most unlikly musical tastes ever, i'd -very much- like you to listen to song in moneer's new album called (eedaya fi gyoobi- my hands in my pocket) which is actually a roba3ia for gaheen... enjoy ;)
Hay Oli..
ok, its a looong story really, starting from my 4th grade when my father bought my 1st pocket radio. ever since i started listening to a local radio station in egypt speaking in all european languages: english, french, german, italian .. etc.
but above all, i loved the english transmition the most. so i started from my 7th grade to phone n live radio programs. and to be more recognized, i had to use a nick name *that got a different story* , it used to be BlueBerry. untill last year, i had to change it to BlueLue *for a different story ;)*
and yes, i called Richard ALOT, he's a good friend of mine. in fact, all the european announcers are good friends of us. they are truely friendly to the extend they helped me, in person, more than once. they frequently make gatherings for radio friends, thats how you got to know the listeners as well, and thats how i got to learn better about life.
sadly, i haven't seen Richard before, its only phone calls going on between us. yet i wish deep down in side my heart to meet him and the rest of the announcers one day. can't imagine really how they are changing my life.
and if you want to know more about that radio station, you can visit our official site:
http://www.cairoradio.net
and by the way that blog http://www.slangonline.com/slang4/ is for one or our beloved femal announcers called youmna sama7a ;)
if u want more just ask :)

he's following world wide stations at a time! and evn mentioned in WRTH as a major contributor in the world of radio and DXing. in fact, i had the pleasure of discovering that part of the world thru him.
you can by the way check this our, go to google.com and search for his name Tareq Zeidan .. and then come n say i am a frequent listener...

Oh Blue, thank you for that explanation, it makes perfect sense now! I think that is a nice way of forming a community or making friends. A little bit like blogging.

Interesting story. I remeber how happy I was when my favourite radio announcer replied to one of my e-mails.

DIDO ok.. can go.. not a problem..
but who is Bruce Lee.. gimme an exmple.. i remember the name not very well :S
btw: did they say who are OCs?! or not yet
DIDO can go ??!! she is like the ... yeah, la creme de la creme of english music...
u dunno bruce lee ?? never heard him singin ?? that's weird, especially that he's an ACTOR !!
he's the one responsible for all of the kungfo films .. he had this catchy phrase of ( u wanted a fight, n' a fight u'd get).. -or smthn like that-...
no, no OC news on the block...
no doubt that HELLO is a hit... but, let's just say u didn' listen to OCTOBER n' FEILD OF INNOCENCE yet.. or may be u did ??
b3din mnty kwaisa aho in english, a lazmt si FAREED b2s ?!
Slo
i belive Nostatgie is the one that suits me well ;)
i am into 60's and 50's much.. i belive these were the best of all the best..
and partially some of the non-comercial releases of the 80's and 70's can go as well..
yet tell ya about rnb n rap.. GOSh.. not my style ;)
i doubt sending positive waves in all directions in the bus, simply not many ppl like listeing to that station in here.. and though its more than 30 years old, very few hear about it because of 2 thing:
1. its in european languages
2. its more into cultural issues. which not very preferable by teens in here..
soo as u can guess, i was the only one listening to it at that early morning, apart from my radio friends who were listening in their cars before work ;)
Sheryous:
is it really even. got these couple of songs?! r u sure abt the name?!
i don't have them on my collection *though i keep all their tracks* :-S
tab ok.. how about Alanis Morissette - Uninvited .. aha.. no one can differe one.. :P
not coz i listen to fareed, i don't have a proper musical taste..
the fact is fareed touches my inside befor my ears.. his voice is always sad, you can feel that even if u hate him. even his words are sooo sentimental and philosophical in an unbelievable way. apart from his magnificent oud playing..
thats mainly y i like him.. do u know his story with queen nariman?! that story made me even more compationate with him ever since my father told me about it..
i don't like the fast beats, certainly, but as well i like kinda dance sometimes.. i'll try uploading a song and i BELIVE u won't belive i like it that much ;)
Cool, Steliano - when I'm in France I listen to Classique and Nostalgie, and sometimes Rire et Chansons when there's nothing on the others!
Blue - Here in London I usually listen to Classic FM and it comes on with my morning alarm. Sometimes BBC Radio 3 (classical and the arts). And if the reception is good enough, London Greek Radio.
seems like u missed the whole point...
i didn mean that ppl who listen to fareed have a bad taste, coz there's nthn such as bad taste !! everyone's taste is always the best for him...
i meant that since we've a different arabic taste, i thought our tste in english 'd be different also .. bs...
as for even, these 2 songs are ain a new album, containin some live hits, includin OCTOBER, FEILD OF INNOCENCE n' BROKEN...
i'll get ya the CD if the OC stuff goes well isA..
